Express the highest version of yourself moment, to moment, to moment…

Areté is the ultimate expression of you when you are in the flow of life doing what you were put on this planet to do (and accomplish?) and being the person you were born to be.

It is the moment when an athlete enters “the zone”, a martial artist enters zen or a yogi reaches Kundalini in Tantra. It’s the point in business where you feel pumped with energy and unstoppable. It’s what can get you out of bed feeling great and looking forward to the day ahead of you because you have the tools (Mind . Body . Environment . Energy . Nutrition) to help you seize that day and squeeze every last drop out of it with 100% conviction, determination, passion, fun and vigour (insert your own words there to describe your expression of Areté).

ARETÉ “Another powerful Aristotelean term I heard used by a good friend is Areté . It’s a Greek word with no real equivalent in any other language as far as I can tell, but basically Areté is about looking into your own soul and not only discovering what it is that can make you great, but also identifying the source of that greatness and activating it every single day of your life. It’s the well you draw from when there’s no other resource. It’s the absolute truth that sits in the deepest part of your soul.”

Georges St-Pierre – MMA Legend

Translated as “virtue,” the word actually means something closer to “being the best you can be,” or “reaching your highest human potential.” The man or woman of Areté is a person of the highest effectiveness; they use all their faculties: strength, bravery, wit, perseverance, drive, passion and guile to express their truest potential.

Wealth does not bring about Areté, but Areté attracts wealth and all other public and private blessings for men.

Brain functions are not confined to certain fixed locations

Michael Merzenich and other researchers in this field have shown that the brain is what they call “plastic” — it can physically remodel itself. The notion that the brain we are born with is not a fixed structure with a set of weaknesses and strengths, but a mutable organ that is adaptable and can be trained to overcome its deficiencies, has profound implications for how we perceive our brain and its associated capacities. (see more on that research at Wired.com – “Game your brain: the new benefits of neuroplasticity“)

Reshape your destiny through your Areté

We can become who we choose to be. We have the ability to self-actualise. The science of neuroplasticity explains that we can remould our brains at will.

The 5 Levers of Life give you the tools to develop your Areté.

Musicians must make music, artists must paint, a poet must write if they are to be ultimately at peace with themselves. What human beings can be they must be. They must be true to their own nauture. This need we may call “self-actualisation”… it refers to man’s desire for self-fulfillment, namely to the tendency for hom to become ACTUALLY in what he is POTENTIALLY: To become everything one is capable of becoming.
